We all know the unemployment numbers are *way* worse than we're being told. Whatever the overall figure is (my rule of thumb is to multiply the official number by 1.5 to 2) the numbers for certain demographic groups are  nothing short of catastrophically high. Just check the articles below from the AP and the SF Chronicle to get an idea of just how high and figure even those numbers are probably considerably short of the true numbers. Throw in on top of that the number of people on food stamps along with those set to lose their unemployment benefits and you've got a recipe for massive social breakdown:
